THE REVERSIBILITY
INITIATIVE

Questions worth investigating

From a promising idea
to a rigorous study.

Our research agenda starts with careful design, transparent limitations, and a commitment to learning before drawing conclusions.

TRI-SPAN

Spiderweb Plastics Atmospheric Network

Proposed research initiative

A question about the air,
and how we study it.

Could standardized spiderweb sampling help study airborne plastics—and investigate microbes on the same web? Calibration against conventional airborne sampling would be a design priority.

A proposed two-piece approach would take one small piece of a web for microbial analysis and another for plastics analysis. Consistent sampling, contamination controls, calibration, and clear limits of interpretation would guide development.

A deliberate path forward

Design first.
Evidence next.

A compelling question earns a careful test—not a premature conclusion.

We invite researchers and prospective funders to discuss study design and development. Any future work would need appropriate expertise, resources, and a documented protocol before it could produce interpretable findings.

Start a conversation

with a good question.
